The Story

English hip hop outfit Credit To The Nation were championed by the music press and found chart success in the 90s, becoming one of the first commercial British hip hop artists as well as one of the most influential and controversial rap groups of the early 90s, laying out the blueprint for future successes. The group - consisting of MC Fusion and dancers T-Swing and Mista-G - released their debut single on Chumbawamba's label Agit Pop in 1991 and later collaborated with the Chumbas two years later on the single 'Enough Is Enough'.

Preparing for a follow-up to Take Dis proved difficult. Hanson's outspokenness (and his continued closeness to Chumbawamba and their own political confrontations) had made him the target of enmity and intimidation in his home region. These eventually forced him to move out of his home following death threats. Hanson found these conflicts (and his own growing celebrity) difficult to deal with. In subsequent interviews, he would confess to having had problems with cannabis addiction during this time, and even to having spent time sectioned in a psychiatric hospital.

Due to these factors, the completion of the band's second album, Daddy Always Wanted Me To Grow A Pair of Wings was delayed by a year. It was preceded by two singles: the self-flagellating 'Liar Liar' (which charted at #60) and a follow-up, 'Mad Dog'. As with Take Dis, the album was produced by and featured various Chumbawamba members.

Tracklist:

  1. Liar Liar
  2. Come On Come On
  3. Gemma
  4. One By One
  5. Black
  6. Make Me Wonder
  7. Mad Dog
  8. Mind: The Point
  9. Bromagh
  10. Johnathon & Craig
  11. Three Bald HEad
    12. Black & Loud
